My lovely ladies from our current solo course have been discovering new performers, studying their routines finding out what makes them unique and entertaining, yet sexy and empowering.
The list of inspiring burlesque artists is endless but I thought I would share with you some of the awesome performers we have been studying.
In no particular order…
Loulou D’vil

Loulou D’vil is an Award-winning burlesque performer and a creative model from Finland. Named Queen of Burlesque 2013, she has been tantalised audiences all around the World since 2008.

Whislt her facial expression wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, Loulou D’vil certainly has a wonderful stage presence. Watch her as she moves and glides around the stage, using the entire space as much as possible. See how she takes her time, teasing the audience, removing her boa, and her dress. It’s not about removing a lot in a short amount of time, it’s how sensual and provocative she can be.

Amelia Kisses

The many faces of Amelia Kisses where Glitter is her favourite colour and flirty is a full time sport, she may kiss but does she tell? “This curvaceous little lady is a pocket rocket of energy and giggles.” added the Sugar Blue Burlesque website.

Dance routine I have recently discovered:

So much energy in this routine. Once again, Amelia uses the stage as much as possible ticking burlesque boxes as she interacts with her audience, flirting and smiling. Note that she only starts removing her dress at around 40 secondes into her routine, to finally get rid off it 1:30 secondes. If you are planing on putting a burlesque solo together, remember to take your time. Use your prop/outfit in every possible way.

Dance routine we loved to watch:

This is one clever routine that I can’t stop watching. Her facial expressions are incredible and her dress is a delight. And the details… oh the details! Everything has been thought thoroughly. She plays with the music, every boom and bang are an opportunity. Take a particular look at the end, when removing her stockings. She has warmed the audience from the very start, she plays with them, teasing them, taking her time and stretching the wait as long as possible. It works. Hell yes it works!

This is no surprise that the Miss Exotic World contestant Perle Noire (New Orleans, LA) dazzled the crowd (and the judges) with this “Exotique Mystere” routine at the 22nd Annual Tournament of Tease/Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend 2012.
What are your thought? How would you analalyse it? What makes it unique and entertaining?

Ginger Snaps

Voted “Best Burlesque Performer” by Austin Chronicle reader’s poll 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 Ginger Snaps is only getting started. She may not (yet) have the professional backround her fellow burlesque performers mentioned above have, she is nevertheless a wonderful performer that diserves to appear in this article. She is the proof that size does not matter and is a true inspiration, combining burlesque and aerial performance.
